17th March 2020

In light of the current news and following the Prime Minister’s statement yesterday advising the public to “avoid” the likes of theatres, it is with great regret we have made the decision to postpone all shows until Thursday 28th May 2020.

This has not been an easy decision for the team here at the Gladstone, but as we hope you can appreciate, the health and safety of our staff, audiences, visitors, volunteers and all creatives is paramount.

We have and will continue to sit down with producers and event organisers regarding their shows to make a decision on postponements and rescheduled dates.

If you do have tickets booked with us for any of our shows within this time frame, a member of our Box Office Team will be in touch with you over the next few days to arrange moving you to the rescheduled date, or giving you a voucher to our theatre which will be valid for the next two years.

In the event of a cancellation you will also be contacted to inform you of this decision and are of course entitled to a refund.

Unlike many other theatres, we are a registered charity who receive no regular public funding. We rely on generous donations and support to keep our theatre running and ultimately keep our doors open, allowing us to deliver the high-quality shows and service you experience here on the Wirral.

Some ticket holders have already chosen to decline their refund and instead chose to support our charitable activities at this difficult time. We ask that should you feel as though you could do the same, then we would be eternally grateful.

Please appreciate this is an incredibly tough time for us and we have more than 8,000 people to contact with an office that is run by three people. We do understand this is a stressful time of uncertainty, but please bear with us as we work through this list.

If you do not hear from us immediately please do not worry, we do have all your details and will be in touch in due course. You will not lose out.

On behalf of the Gladstone Theatre we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support of our community-based theatre and remind everyone that this is the time for us to unite during this difficult period.

As a theatre, we recognise the struggle the industry is set to face over the coming months so would like to thank you for your patience and your understanding. We are doing all we can to support our staff, our audiences and the sector as a whole.

Please look after yourselves and remain safe in what is set to be an uncertain time for many. Keep up to date with the current guidelines set out by Public Health England and follow instructions from the World Health Organisation and local governments.

We thank you for your ongoing support for the Gladstone Theatre and look forward to seeing you all once everything returns to normality.
